What is Echo Cancellation Software?

This era has been earmarked by unprecedented technological advancements. In every sector of society and in every industry there are new gadgets and gizmos as well as innovative software and hardwareNo matter where you look or wherever you go, in every field of business and industry one finds new creations in software, hardware, mobile devices, electronic or computerized gadgets, and more. In no realm has technology made a bigger impact than in the area of communications. The advent of myriads of mobile phone devices used by the masses and the ability to transmit voice over long distances via high-speed Internet connections are testimony to the growing role of voice communication today, Added to that are voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technologies such as Skype, video conferencing, live chat software, instant messaging, high-quality headphones and microphones, and more.
(Developers of communications software are always looking for new ways to improve issues having to do with sound transmission and sound quality|Communications software specialists are constantly striving to better the products they design and pay special attention to improvements in sound transmissions and quality}. However the fact is that despite all the advancements in the field, audio quality is sometimes still not up to par. Background or ambient noise has been known to interfere with good reception in music, video, and even telephone calls. Similarly, many of the problems which are currently being addressed have to do with delays in voice transmission and with reverberation or what is known as echo.
How do problems with echo manifest? When systems share voice across expansive distances, the types of sound distortions which may occur include:
1) Speakers hear their own voice or words repeated back to them by the system
2) Speakers, listeners, or conference attendees hear a screeching or howling sound
3) Sound quality mimics that of an echo chamber
4) Speech distortion
5) Background noise
Fortunately, a solution has been found for many of these issues in the advent of audio noise reduction software, otherwise known as echo cancellation technology. In brief, by installing advanced processors in devices such as microphones, which filter out external noise, audio quality is significantly enhanced. While all echo canceling technologies operate under the same premise, depending on the system there are various degrees of sophistication of this feature.
In a nutshell, here is how it works:
Using a mixture of noise canceling hardware and software, a replica or copy of the incoming noise is made. Next, a processing circuit generates a mirror image of that sound. Since the replicated sound wave is identical in terms of frequency and amplitude, it is able to negate or cancel the noise coming in from outside. Stated more technically, the copied sound waves make the original sound waves go out of phase. Consequently, your devices (iPhone, headphones, speakers, et cetera) stay quiet and feature good sound quality.
What constitutes good or excellent sound quality? When you are listening to music or voice, the sound should be clear and pleasing to the ear. And thirdly, there should be no echo and the audio should not sound as if it's coming from a million miles away
A fact little known to most people is that one of the most common applications of this technology today is in the everyday use of noise canceling headphones, which are also one of the hottest ticket items currently sold in the industry. They are extremely useful to block out noise on buses, trains, and other noisy environments or public places. Another place you will encounter noise canceling headphones is in the first class or business section of many airplanes. When you go to purchase your next set of headphones or ear buds, choose at minimum a quieting level of 17 decibels (dB), which will be indicated on the package. And don't forget to by a charger since these headphones must be fired up by a rechargeable battery.
Ya thats true. we have to use echo cancellation for better noise.
ReplyDeleteWhile designing an Echo cancellation system , we have to keep two things in mind. those are:-
first recognizing the originally transmitted signal that re-appears, with some delay, in the transmitted or received signal.
secondly you have to choose the best method for designing that .some of methods are echo suppressors or echo cancellers.
To implement the system we generally use the digital signal processor technique.
You have a great idea regarding
echo cancellation .
